Mixing Arts and Science
When it comes to mixing arts and science Dave's not alone :) Here are some staff and students at Mc Gill University in Montreal dancing up awareness.
Their YouTube video shows them swaying to the beat in laboratories and hallways at the Rosalind and Morris Goodman Cancer Research Centre in Montreal.
Included in the dance video are the Goodmans, for whom the centre is named, along with Dr. Phil Gold, whose early research led to the discovery of the carcinoembryonic antigen, a blood test used in the diagnosis and management of patients with cancer.
A McGill spokeswoman says a choreographer was brought in to help the academic crowd put together their moves.
Signs are held up at several points during the routine, including ones reading "Together We Can Find a Cure."
The video is sponsored by Medicom, a company which makes gloves used by scientists in the labs.
The McGill official says the company plans to make a donation to the centre based on the number of clicks that the video receives.
She says the idea was to reach out to younger people and speak to them "where they live, which is online, and to get the message out in a non-traditional way."
